Caleb and his wife approached us to provide a concept for their new café. The area where it is located is special to Caleb as he grew up in the neighbourhood, and still lives only a few meters away. Actually, the site also happened to be where he worked in his teens pumping petrol. Now it's the place where he gets to fulfil his dream of owning his own coffee shop. The Tribute Café is a major good news story. The whole endeavour was crowd-funded, so it was obvious that what was required was a passionate but considered approach to design. Since The Tribute Café was a new building, made from concrete and plasterboard, with no real architectural features to take advantage of, we prepared a concept centred on comfort, using relaxed and muted warm tones and materials that added texture and authenticity.

We introduced sepia tones, chocolates, coppers, timber and leather, alongside coppered mirrors, plants and splashes of green glass. Now Caleb and his team love their new home away from home.
